Welcoming a new perk to our site is Meetup.com! A new feature that lets everyone know that there are so many fun things to do here in the Bay Area! It's a free place to connect and explore new and familiar ideas. I am really excited to have become a member, and a participant. I hope to see more people check us out!

Fast food is not a date
There are dating disasters and there are "dating disasters" Taking someone to a fast food joint is one of these cases. As it is, we all watch TV from time to time... Commercials are here to let us know what is cool and what is fun right? Wrong. A recent commercial from a very popular "restaurant" shows a couple ordering "nuggets" and the mans voice over explains how inexpensive it is taking out this woman, and all I can think about is: "Really?" He took her to "Mc Whatevers?"
Don't make the same mistake. Fast food is not a date!

It was a Sunday afternoon in the heart of Hayes Valley where we letting people know about the dating website.
I knew this new dating website, www.howaboutadate.com, is a conversation piece getting attention every time it's mentioned. As I was chatting about it a couple walks by overhearing us talk. The man quips to his wife, 'When I was single there were no women on the street asking a man "How about a date?"' His wife simply smiles and he encouraged us to continue on...the response has been amazing!

Being the architect of your own social calendar
It’s nice having access to so many modern conveniences… Twitter, Facebook, etc. What about all the dating sites out there that make claim to setting up the “perfect” date? What about the commercials we see everyday telling me that we can find that one special person? Being the architect of your own social calendar allows you to be at ease doing what you love. I’d rather not have someone playing matchmaker for me. I would think that sharing what a person loves to do rather than taking chances with random guessing is a much more likable idea.

Haven't we all done this? We ask our coupled friends, "How did you two meet?" and then go out to do the exact same thing in the hopes of meeting someone great ourselves. Only it never works out... at least not for Amanda. Watch this video and see that life should be about doing the things that YOU love!

Dating is never simple
For our marketing campaigns, one of our slogans is “Dating made simple.” During one such occasion, a person replied, “it’s never simple.” To that I would like to reply:
Finding love is never simple. Yes, trying to find your soulmate can be an impossible task, a game of luck and of chance… However, just a date itself can be fun, easy and low pressure – if you allow it to be. Our website is about allowing people to post dates and find people to go out with. That’s it. No match making, no long profile, no endless searches, no interview dates. Just go out and do what you love, enjoy life and meet people along the way. When there is no pressure on a date, a person can be themselves. And when you are doing what you love, that is when your true personality shines. This is the environment that allows for two people to really get to know each other and for natural chemistry to develop.

The Scene
The dating scene here in the bay area can be really fun if you are ready to explore. I recently did an art crawl in downtown Oakland. One of the best first dates I have had in a very long time. There were good cocktails and great tapas at the bar before actually hitting the galleries around town. Walking around, I finally felt at ease because I knew right away that finding someone to go out with that has similar tastes is not easy to find. I wish that I had known about the howaboutadate.com website before this, but I got lucky. I just don’t want to have to be lucky in finding dates…. I want an opportunity to post, receive, and choose what’s best for me.

Dating made simple
What is the ideal date? Is it dinner and dancing, or is it a hike through your favorite places in the city? Dating can be tricky if you have doubts about the right scene to be seen! I have gone out on some great dates here in The City By The Bay… Down to Pier 39 or Golden Gate Park. But what gets me is that I don’t want the same old hum drum site to post on.
For me, and I hope for readers out there, you’d want a simple and uncomplicated way to meet fun people and adventure through a common “like”. I detest sites that ask for a thirty point inspection in order to find someone I may be interested in taking out. Nor do I want to go through some lengthy process in order to only have some weirdo tracking/stalking my profile! Simplicity is the key… howaboutadate.com takes the best elements and streamlines profiles and people into one great place to meet and greet some of the best of the Bay. So check in, post, don’t pause! Just have fun!
